Attorney Joe Van Horn has joined the East Lansing firm of Willingham & Coté, P.C.
With a variety of experience in insurance defense, health care law, and corporate practice, Van Horn has been involved in all phases of litigation, including trials and appellate practice.
In addition to being admitted in Michigan state and federal courts, he previously practiced law in Iowa and Colorado.
Van Horn primarily represents clients involved in medical malpractice defense and no-fault insurance defense. He also has a wide variety of experience with health care law, having advised a number of health care organizations as general counsel on complex health care statutes and topics. In representing physicians, he has been involved not only in medical malpractice defense, but also medical practice formation and registration, licensing and disciplinary investigations, physician supervision rules, telemedicine, as well as health care reimbursement and compliance matters.
An alumnus of Michigan State University, Van Horn graduated with honors from Drake University Law School in Des Moines, Ia., then worked as a law clerk for a number of state court judges in Des Moines. He also spent a number of years primarily engaged in the defense of police officers in Denver.
In his spare time, Van Horn enjoys travel, camping, and hiking, and spending time with his wife and three children.
