Foster Swift business attorney David S. Nows will be among the speakers for tomorrow’s Global Consortium of Entrepreneurship Centers (GCEC) annual conference in Chicago, hosted by DePaul University and the Illinois Institute of Technology.
The GCEC is an academic organization that allows established entrepreneurship centers as well as emerging centers to work together to share best practices, develop programs and initiatives, and collaborate with each other to advance, strengthen and celebrate the role of universities in educating the entrepreneurs of tomorrow.
Current membership totals 225+ university-based entrepreneurship centers.
Nows will be speaking alongside Joe Green; Senior Legal Editor for Startups & Venture Capital at Thompson Reuters Practical Law and Jeff Thomas; Entrepreneurship Chairperson at Central Michigan University.

(i) summarize the status of the different types of equity crowdfunding;
(ii) review proposals to change equity crowdfunding laws;
(iii) consider what could happen if funding portals and equity management platforms with legal templates combined; and
(iv) discuss how this information may impact universities and entrepreneurship centers.
Nows practices in the firm’s Lansing office in areas of general corporate law, start-up ventures, mergers and acquisitions, employee benefits and tax law. He is a member of the Startup Entrepreneurial Emerging Development (S.E.E.D) practice group.
