Path to Politics

State Representative Kara Hope of Michigan’s 67th House District recently spoke with WMU-Cooley Law School students who have an interest in politics. The WMU-Cooley Law alumna discussed her career path and her current legislative work. Hope began her career as a pre-hearing attorney with the Michigan Court of Appeals before starting a solo law practice in 2015, specializing in family law, and she began volunteering on a local environmental issue. Before running for the State House seat she was elected to the Ingham County Board of Commissioners in 2012.
