Ingham County Circuit Court Judge Joyce Draganchuk hosted a party where members of the Mid-Michigan region of the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan decorated a bra for a contest sponsored by It’s A Breast Thing (IABT). This 501(c)(3) charity covers certain healthcare expenses for women undergoing breast cancer treatment in Clinton, Eaton, Ingham & Shiawassee counties.
The theme of the contest was “Your Favorite Book” and the WLAM bra was decorated in honor of Harper Lee’s classic “To Kill a Mockingbird.”
In September, the bra went on tour as part of a law firm fundraising challenge to Sinas Dramis, Foster Swift, Fraser Trebilcock and Grewal Law, all in the Lansing area. Foster Swift won the fundraising challenge.
On Oct. 1, IABT held its annual contest at Eagle Eye Golf Club in Bath – and this bra took 1st place, by raising the most donations (more than $6,000) – and earning the most votes.
The WLAM group received a gift basket that they donated to Foster Swift in recognition of its win in the law firm fundraising challenge.
A photo of this winning bra, modeled by a local breast cancer survivor, will be featured in a 2020 calendar sold to raise additional funds for IABT.
In 2018, the WLAM group took 9th place in the contest and was featured in the 2019 calendar.
