Randy Tahvonen, former Chief Judge of the 29th Circuit Court serving Clinton and Gratiot Counties, has joined Fraser Trebilcock. He will work primarily out of the Lansing office focusing on alternative dispute resolution.
Prior to joining the firm, Tahvonen served Clinton and Gratiot Counties for 42 years, including 15 years as Chief Judge, before retiring in January. He handled the majority of the felony criminal docket, divorce cases not involving children, and the entire civil litigation docket in both counties.
Tahvonen served as the reporter of the State Bar Committee on Standard Criminal Jury Instructions for 20 years; as an adjunct professor at Cooley Law School for 30 years; as a faculty member of the Michigan Judicial Institute, the National Judicial College and the American Academy of Judicial Education; and a guest lecturer for judicial associations throughout the United States and Canada. He
also served as a visiting judge on the Michigan Court of Appeals on more than 20 occasions.
He is a graduate of the Detroit College of Law, with honors, and holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Michigan State University.
