Bassett Law announces new partner and name change

Bassett Law, an Elder Law firm based in Ann Arbor, welcomes Amanda N. Murray as a partner in the firm.  The name of the firm has officially changed to Bassett Murray Law Group, PLLC.

Murray, who has been with the firm for almost a decade, focuses her practice on Elder Law, Probate and Estate Administration, Adoption, Medicaid Planning, Estate Planning, LGBT Law and Assisted Reproductive Technology, and serves as a professional fiduciary. 

She serves on the Elder Law Council of the Michigan State Bar, Elder Law and Disability Rights Section, and is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys.

Murray graduated cum laude from Eastern Michigan University with a bachelor’s degree in business Administration and received her Juris Doctorate from Western Michigan University-Cooley Law School, graduating in the top 10% of her class.

Before joining Bassett Murray Law Group, PLLC, she served as a judicial extern for the Hon. Avern Cohn at the Federal U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. From 2010 to 2012, she served as judicial intern for the Hon. J. Cedric Simpson at the 14A-1 District Court in Washtenaw County. 

She has also served as a law clerk for the Michigan Poverty Law Program and a volunteer at the State Appellate Defender’s Office. Additionally, she has earned the 40-hour Civil Mediation Certificate.

Murray is a member of and actively involved in the Elder Law and Disability Rights Section of the State Bar of Michigan.  She is a member of the Washtenaw County Bar Association, the Probate and Estate Planning Section of the State Bar of Michigan, and the Children’s Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan.  She has been a speaker at the Elder Law and Disability Rights Conference on the Defense of Marriage Act, has been a presenter throughout the community on Estate Planning and has co-authored “Representing the Elder or Disabled Same-Sex Spouse”, an article published in the WCBA newsletter Res Ipsa Loquitor.
