The National Business Institute will present the live video webinar “Trusts From A to Z” on Monday, August 30, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:10 p.m. Attendees will learn how to:
Weigh pros and cons to select best trust options.; Anticipate tax consequences of various trusts; Use sample trust language to save drafting time and avoid mistakes; Clarify the powers and duties of trustees in different trusts; Compare living and testamentary trusts for straightforward estate planning; Distinguish between accounting and taxable income and learn how trust income tax is reported; Understand how recent tax laws changed the practice of marital trusts and learn when they are still useful; Review common ethical missteps —and how to avoid them.
Speaking at the program will be Michigan attorneys Nicolas Camargo, Travis I. Dafoe, Anthony J. Frasca, Tyler J. Kemper, Chrysa M. Milholland, Molly P. Petitjean.
Camargo is an attorney with Seyburn Kahn PC who focuses his practice on probate administration and estate planning, with a specialization in probate litigation, will contests and trust contests. He also represents various mid-sized businesses in business disputes, litigation, and day-to-day transactional matters. He is admitted to the State Bar of Michigan and in all Michigan state courts. Camargo is also admitted to practice before the Federal District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. Camargo earned his law degree from Michigan State University College of Law.
Dafoe is a sole practitioner with Dafoe Law PLLC, where he practices in the areas of estate planning, probate, trust administration, real estate law, business law and elder law. He is a member of the State of Michigan Bar and the Estate Planning Section. He earned his law degree from WMU-Cooley Law School.
Frasca is a member in the Taxation Department in the law firm of Dykema Gossett PLLC. Frasca focuses his practice on sophisticated estate and business succession planning for high net-worth individuals and families, with an emphasis on tax-efficient planning and philanthropic giving, and on assisting tax-exempt organizations, including with respect to nonprofit formation, governance, and various tax-related issues. Frasca frequently assists individuals with the creation and implementation of complex estate plans for the purpose of achieving both tax and non-tax objectives. He also has experience advising nonprofit clients with issues related to maintenance of tax-exempt status, unrelated business taxable income, charitable gift annuities, charitable lead trusts, charitable remainder trusts, gift acceptance policies, and gift agreements. Frasca received his law degree from Michigan Law School.
Kemper is an attorney with the law firm of Dykema Gossett PLLC. He practices in the areas of federal tax and estate planning & administration. Kemper has earned a B.B.A. degree with a concentration in business management from Siena Heights University, an M.B.A. degree with a dual concentration in marketing and organizational management and strategy from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) Pamplin College of Business, law degrees from Wayne State University Law School and Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law.
Milholland is an attorney in the Midland office of Chalgian & Tripp Law Offices PLLC. Shed concentrates her practice in the areas of estate and tax planning, elder law, special needs planning, estate and trust administration, and guardianships and conservatorships. She is a graduate of the University of Florida College of Law and a member of the State Bar of Michigan. Milholland is a recipient of the Institute for Continuing Legal Education's (ICLE) probate and estate planning certification and a member of the Northeastern Michigan Estate Planning Council. In addition, she graduated from the American Bankers Association Trust School and is a certified trust and financial advisor.
Petitjean is an attorney with the law firm of Buhl, Little, Lynwood, & Harris PLC, where she practices in the areas of estate planning, estate and trust administration, probate and trust litigation, advising small businesses, and business succession planning. She is a member of the State Bar of Michigan (member, Journal Committee of the Probate & Estate Planning Section and Young Lawyers Division), and the Ingham County Bar Association.
Petitjean earned her law degree from Michigan State University College of Law.
