Hass named Honorary City Historian

At the Dec. 7 meeting of the Jackson City Council, local historian and author Linda Hass was named Honorary City Historian by the City Council. Hass has been instrumental in highlighting Jackson’s history as a stop on the Underground Railroad.

In further news, Greenwood Avenue could see a sizable construction project next year. City Council took the first step to approve special assessments to partially fund the project, which will resurface Greenwood from Fourth to Morrell. Further consideration will happen at a future meeting.

Also, an emergency repair of a sewer line at the Wastewater Treatment Plant was approved to make sure the plant continues to function properly.

The 2022 meeting calendar was approved, with 20 meetings slated throughout 2022.

The next council meeting will be on Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2022.
