Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel was presented with LACASA’s Changemaker Award during her visit to the agency on April 27.
“I greatly appreciate this recognition and accept it on behalf of the entire team of hardworking individuals at the Department of Attorney General who share my passion for fighting on behalf of survivors of abuse,” Nessel said. “Too often survivors experience feelings of shame and isolation, but I’m here to remind them that we believe you, you are not alone, and we will fight to secure justice for you.”
Throughout Nessel’s term, she has aggressively pursued the clergy abuse investigation and launched the Boy Scouts of America investigation.
Nessel made the visit to LACASA to commemorate Denim Day, an international day to raise awareness around sexual assault and combat victim blaming.
In the evening, she attended the Crime Victims’ Rights Vigil hosted at the Capitol.
