Michigan Lawyers Weekly recently named Jyotsna Balakrishnan, attorney and partner at Jaffe Raitt Heuer & Weiss, as one of Michigan’s Go To Lawyers for Business Law. Jaffe CEO Mark Cooper made the announcement.
“Having been with us for nearly 11 years, Jo’s extensive experience representing clients on corporate governance matters, M&A, equity financing and strategic transactions, and determination to find creative solutions for clients has been a great asset for the firm,” Cooper said. “Jo has proven to be a leader in her field over and over again, and we are thrilled she is receiving the recognition she deserves.”
The Go To Lawyers program honors Michigan’s leading lawyers in various practice areas. This honor is given to 20 outstanding lawyers, recognized by their peers for their expertise, experience and record of success. Honorees are knowledgeable in the nuances of the case law, statutes and regulations clients will encounter.
Balakrishnan serves as the co-chair of the Jaffe Emerging & Growth Business practice group and also works in the Mergers & Acquisitions and Intellectual Property practice group—representing numerous start-ups and growth-stage companies in all aspects of their life cycle. Her approach involves understanding and addressing her client’s needs while anticipating and planning for challenges that could arise in the future.
Balakrishnan graduated with honors from the National Law School of India University with a Bachelor of Laws in 2003. She later received her Master of Laws with a focus in corporate, finance and securities law from Columbia Law School. She is also fluent in Tamil and Hindi and conversant in French.
