Judge to discuss parent representation on Feb. 7

The Michigan Judicial Institute and Child Welfare Services (CWS) will present a webinar on “The 10 Commandments of Parent Representation” Tuesday, February 7, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. via Zoom.

This training is designed to provide practical tips from a judicial perspective on how to establish a relationship with the parent, effectively communicate with the parent, interact with the court and agencies, and understand the importance of advocacy at all phases of parent representation.

Speaking at the program will be Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Karen Braxton.

This presentation is designed for attorneys in child protective proceedings; however, the content will be useful for all child welfare professionals including jurists, court staff, CPS and foster care workers, tribes, private agencies, law enforcement, medical professionals, mental health providers, education professionals, and Foster Care Review Board members.
