MONTEREY, Calif. – Trooper Frank Tafralian of the Michigan State Police completed the Emergence program at the Naval Postgraduate School’s Center for Homeland Defense and Security (CHDS) on Jan. 20.
Tafralian currently serves as a Michigan State Trooper at the Metro South Post where he performs proactive law enforcement as part of the Secure Cities Partnership in the Detroit area. In the 5 years he has served with the Michigan State Police, Tafralian has received two life-saving recommendations and has taught three trooper recruit classes. He holds a Michigan Paramedic license from Huron Valley Ambulance where he continues to work part-time. Tafralian is also a recipient of the Michigan Futures for Frontliners Scholarship, with which he is currently pursuing an education in Public Safety Administration from Washtenaw Community College and Eastern Michigan University.
Throughout the hybrid program, Tafralian collaborated with homeland security officials from across the nation on current policy, strategy, and organizational design challenges.
The NPS-CHDS students represent a snapshot of the homeland security enterprise, including professionals from the fields of emergency management, education, law enforcement, fire service, homeland security, public health, and city/county government.
