Local students win scholarships, awards at MITES state competition

MUSKEGON: Students from the Career Tech Center (CTC) in Muskegon achieved outstanding results at the Michigan Industrial Technology Education Society (MITES) state competition. The event, which took place May 10-13, 2023, at the Wings Event Center, featured entries from the CTC’s Auto Collision/Refinishing, Bio Tech & Engineering, Computer-Aided Design, Graphic Production, and Machining/Engineering Technology students.

Students from high schools and tech centers across Michigan submitted projects in various industrial technology categories. The submissions were evaluated by industry professionals based on criteria such as accuracy, craftsmanship, and difficulty. The impressive performance of the CTC students was recognized with a total of three Grand Awards, eight first-place awards, five second-place awards, and five third-place awards. These achievements highlight the students; hard work and expertise in their respective fields.

Auto Collision/Refinishing:

MITES is a professional organization of industrial technology and career technical education educators whose purpose is the development of industrial and technology education at all levels of private and public education.

The Career Tech Center in Muskegon offers 16 career-prep programs for high school juniors and seniors.
