From childhood, Regan Glenn has been drawn to the idea of being a voice for others. “My life experiences since have only confirmed my passion for representing others and helping them in difficult times,” says Glenn, a rising 3L at Detroit Mercy Law. “My career goal is to join a law firm and advocate for our clients to ensure their rights and best interests are protected and prioritized within the legal system.”
Glenn launched her academic trajectory with the University of Detroit Mercy’s 5-year MBA program, where in 2020 she was named Beta Gamma Sigma, John Daniels Student Servant of the Year, served on the Student Athlete Advisory Committee, and was on the Dean’s Honor Roll.
“It provided me with incredible opportunities I couldn't pass up,” she says. “I was able to graduate with my BBA and MBA in four years from a university that consistently achieves a top 25 ranking among the nation’s best Management programs, is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business placing it among the top 5 percent of business schools in the world, and is full of professors, administrators, and staff dedicated to helping their students.”
During her studies, she earned a leadership minor, and participated in several organizations such as the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), the Emerging Leaders program, and the Institute for Leadership and Service.
Glenn adds that during her time at the McNichols campus, she had many incredible professors, two being “Dr. KZO” (Kathleen Zimmerman-Oster) and “Dr. Don” (Donald DiPaolo).
“Because of them I was able to earn a leadership minor, an Emerging Leaders program Pin and Medallion, and most importantly I was able to learn about myself as an individual and as a leader setting me up for success in the workplace and in my personal life,” she says.
“The opportunity to participate in the Institute for Leadership and Service and engage in different service-learning opportunities was highly influential in my life. My participation in SAAC is another one of many events that solidified my desire to represent others.”
At Detroit Mercy Law, where she has participated in the Veterans Law Clinic, she most appreciates the people.
“It’s incredibly evident that professors, deans, administrators, staff, and alumni have the student’s best interest in mind,” she says. “When I graduate next year, I know I received an incredible education from exceptional professors, and I’m joining a highly esteemed alumnus base.”
After her 1L year, Glenn interned at FordDirect, and is now a summer associate at Plunkett Cooney.
“It’s been a great opportunity,” she says. “I’ve really enjoyed working with the governmental law practice group at Plunkett Cooney and I’m open to many other areas of the law.”
She currently is a 3L class representative and is on the executive boards of the Sports Law Society and the Business Law Society. She also is a member of the Women’s Law Caucus and Lawyers Lending Hands, a group that supports local charity organizations, including Focus: HOPE, The Rainbow Connection, and HAVEN of Oakland County.
As a member of Moot Court, Glenn enjoys the opportunities to practice advocacy skills and to be challenged with complex issues in a competitive environment. “I’m looking forward to competing in competitions this year and further developing those essential advocacy skills,” she says.
Originally from Fort Mohave, Ariz., Glenn enjoys the history and attitude of Detroit.
“I also enjoy that there is always something to do whether it be going to a game, enjoying a concert, or enjoying a new restaurant,” she says.
A softball champ in High School, during her undergraduate and graduate time at UDM, Glenn played Division I softball as a pitcher for the Detroit Mercy Titans; and was named an NFCA All-American Scholar-Athlete. She notes the game has been fundamental to her development as a person and as a scholar.
“Softball gave me the opportunity to develop so many skills at an early age —time management, leadership, resilience, and teamwork to name a few—which has certainly helped me to get to where I am,” she says.
