August 2 Levin Center Webinar will look at 'Current Research on Redistricting of Legislative Boundaries'

The Levin Center for Oversight and Democracy will present the webinar “Citizen vs. Legislature-Led Reapportionment: Current Research on Redistricting of Legislative Boundaries” Wednesday, August 2, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. via Zoom.

Following the 2020 census, states re-drew legislative districts. In Michigan and California, independent citizen commissions took on drafting and approving new election maps. How did this approach compare to redistricting done by state legislatures?

Panelists will include:

• Marjorie Sarbaugh-Thompson, academic director of State Oversight Academy and professor of Political Science at Wayne State University

• Christian Grose, professor of Political Science and Public Policy at University of Southern California and academic director of USC Schwarzenegger Institute for State and Global Policy

• Sara Sadhwani, assistant professor of Politics at Pomona College, commissioner on 2020 California Citizens Redistricting Commission
