The State Appellate Defender Office and the Criminal Defense Resource Center will present a webinar on "Warrior Motion Practice" Tuesday, August 15, from noon to 1:30 p.m. via Zoom.
This training aims to encourage defense attorneys to think outside the box and challenge social wrongs through motion practice.
This training provides an easy, four-step process by which attorneys can turn creative ideas into powerful legal arguments and force prosecutors to either work for their convictions or offer dispositions favorable to clients.
Speaking at the webinar will be Zamir Ben-Dan, an assistant professor at Temple Law School.
His research interests and emerging scholarship lie in the intersections of criminal law, race and the law, and American history. Ben-Dan formerly worked as a staff attorney in the Bronx Criminal Trial Practice and Community Justice Units of the Legal Aid Society.
Ben-Dan was a founding member of the Black Attorneys of Legal Aid caucus (BALA), and served for nearly five years in BALA's leadership.
