Bridget McCormack, former chief justice of the Michigan Supreme Court, was the recipient of the prestigious Archer Award, named in honor of former Detroit Mayor Dennis Archer, pictured at right. Archer, who also served on the state Supreme Court, was among those who paid tribute to McCormack, who serves as president and CEO of the American Arbitration Association—International Centre for Dispute Resolution. Among the speakers were State Court Administrator Thomas Boyd, Chief Judge Elizabeth Gleicher of the Michigan Court of Appeals, and Wayne County Circuit Judge Mary Beth Kelly. The 19th annual event, presented by the Detroit Bar Association and Foundation, took place Nov. 10 at the Detroit Yacht Club with proceeds benefitting free legal aid clinics and community outreach programs.
