‘The Joy in Our Stories’ youth art exhibit runs through March 4
The Boys & Girls Club of the Muskegon Lakeshore and dooGallery will hold an art exhibit, “The Joy in Our Stories,” through March 4 at 1050 W. Western Avenue, Muskegon.
The exhibit is part of the Boys & Girls Club of America’s National Arts Contest.
Competing within four age groups and 18 categories, participants in the National Arts Contest complete original works of art that are exhibited locally, regionally and nationally.
The annual contest launches with National Arts Education week with programming starting in September and closes in May.
“In addition to Performing arts, year-round our Boys and Girls Club members explore a host of visual art mediums including clay, collage, digital photography, and painting which will be showcased at the local art event,” said Hillary Jones, BGCML Arts Specialist. “We strive to provide programming that fosters creativity, promotes healthy artistic expression, and nurtures a deep appreciation for the Humanities."
Artwork submitted in the BGCML Arts Contest is judged, with selected artwork recognized and moving on to regional and potentially national levels. Artwork will be available to view and purchase ending March 4. Ninety percent of all sales will be given directly to the Club youth artists.
