One Voice Conference to spotlight collaborative solutions in animal welfare

In a world where collaboration is paramount for progress, the Michigan Pet Alliance (MPA) statewide conference is set to assemble industry leaders, innovators and visionaries under one roof to share the latest research and best practices in animal welfare.

The 2024 One Voice: Michigan Pet Alliance Conference & Expo will take place on October 9-11 at the Sheraton Grand Rapids Airport Hotel in Grand Rapids. More than 300 animal advocates from across Michigan will gather for the three-day event to learn what’s new and what’s next in animal welfare.

“After a six-year break due to the pandemic, we are thrilled to host the 2024 One Voice conference,” said Sarah Devaney, CEO of the Michigan Pet Alliance. “Through our interactive breakout sessions, keynote presentations and engaging expo, we will foster collaboration to forge meaningful connections and drive positive change.”

The One Voice conference features an impressive lineup of speakers, including experts from Best Friends Animal Society, the Humane Society of the United States, National Animal Care & Control Association, Humane Society of Huron Valley, and Capital Area Humane Society, just to name a few. A keynote presentation will be delivered by Mikkel Becker from Fear Free®. Other special guests to be announced.

The in-person event will provide ample networking opportunities for participants to engage with each other, as well as with subject matter experts and exhibitors.

Key topics to be explored during the conference include:

• Unleashing the potential of people power

• Nurturing the health and well-being of companion animals

• Enhancing the lives of pets in your community

• Paving the path to progressive animal welfare programs

• Advancing shelter and rescue operations

• Saving lives, one paw at a time

“We chose ‘Better Together’ as the theme for this year’s conference to foster a more interconnected community,” said Devaney. “The animal welfare industry is experiencing a serious crisis triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“By working together, we can unlock new opportunities and tackle complex challenges more effectively to improve standards and quality of care for the animals who need us.”

Registration is open to all, with special rates for MPA members. Register by June 9 to take advantage of early bird pricing.

MPA strives to end the killing of healthy and treatable homeless cats and dogs in Michigan animal shelters. The MPA mission is to collaborate with advocates, animal shelters, and rescue organizations to achieve a standard of best practices through training, technical assistance, education, and advocacy.
