Gus Macker Heroes Tournament
Founded in 1974 by Scott McNeal, the Gus Macker Tournament began as a small, backyard gathering 50 years ago in Lowell, Michigan. On June 21, the Jackson Police Department and the Jackson Fire Department took part in the 50th anniversary tournament.
The Gus Macker Heroes Tournament, celebrating its 50th anniversary, was held June 21 in downtown Jackson. A 3x3 basketball Heroes Tournament and Dream Team Tournament, a free throw contest, dunk contest and mascot game were held. Members from the Jackson City Police, Jackson Fire Department, Blackman-Leoni Public Safety, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Orthopedic Rehab Specialists, Henry Ford Health, Michigan State Police, U.S. Air Force, and U.S. Army took part.
