Big Brothers Big Sisters of Flint and Genesee County held their 19th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Mentoring Inspiration Breakfast on January 20, 2025. It’s a longstanding tradition aimed at honoring the legacy of Dr. King through a celebration of service, volunteerism, and mentoring. It serves as a plat-form to raise awareness and foster engagement, promoting one-to-one mentorship professionally supported by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Flint and Genesee County.
The Mentoring Inspiration Breakfast began as a tribute to Dr. King’s commitment to service each year on the Dr. Martin Luther King Day of Service. However, over the years, it has evolved into a celebration that aligns with National Mentoring Month and its designated celebration days… “I’m a Mentor,” on January 9th and “Thank Your Mentor Day,” January 25th and has become a cornerstone in the community, bringing in over 100 supporters each year.
This event aims to underscore the significance of mentoring in our community, emphasizing the power of positive relationships in shaping the future and brings together a diverse gathering of individuals in the community that includes Little Brothers and Little Sisters, volunteers, community groups, civic and political leaders, and various other attendees.
