ZPS Launches Survey On Upcoming Bond Issue

Zeeland Public Schools want to hear from you on what they should prioritize on their next bond issue.

The district has launched an online community bond survey that asks such questions as which of its buildings would benefit most from renovations, updates or new construction. It also asks residents to rank order from a list of nine potential projects that could be on the next bond issue. Such projects include expansion and renovation at Creekside Middle School, renovation of DeWitt Auditorium, and “significant renovations and upgrades” at Zeeland Stadium.

“While we hope to accomplish as much as possible within our bond budget, we know we’ll have to make some challenging choices,” ZPS Interim Superintendent Matt Stolz wrote on the district’s website. “Your voice will help guide those decisions, ensuring we focus on what matters most to our community.”

District voters in May 2021 approved a $75 million bond issue. Among the projects the bond issue paid for included an addition to Adams Elementary School, classroom renovations at Cityside Middle School, renovation to physical education facilities at both high schools, and replacement of both roofing and HVAC equipment.

The survey will be active through March 27. You can log onto the survey at surveymonkey.com/r/J7RP8K8 or through the ZPS website at zps.org/about-us/dist rict-information/imagine-what-s-possible.
