A gathering to remember the late Zeeland city councilman and community volunteer Dan Van Ommen will take place next week.
The gathering will be held Wednesday, April 23, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at The Bridge Youth Center, 210 E. Main Ave.
Van Ommen, who served on the City Council from 2000 to 2005 and was on numerous local boards and committees, died Feb. 28 at the age of 77. After his time on council, he owned a business downtown and volunteered with the Zeeland Chamber of Commerce.
The gathering is being organized by The Bridge executive director Jed Mulder and Don’s Flowers owner Doug Vos, and is meant to be a time for people to come together and share stories of Van Ommen and his contributions to Zeeland.
