‘American Landscapes’
concert is set May 30
The West Michigan Symphony will present “American Landscapes,” 7:30 p.m., Friday, May 30, in the Frauenthal Center.
The concert, with conductor Scott Speck, will feature two of Copland’s majestic masterpieces: Fanfare for the Common Man and his third symphony — probably the biggest American symphony ever written.
The season finale also presents Torke’s Sky, written for violinist Tessa Lark, reflecting her Kentucky Bluegrass roots.
In addition, Tessa and Scott will share insights and anecdotes in a free Lunch ‘n’ Learn , 12 to 1 p.m., on Wednesday, May 28.
The event includes free coffee, water, and lunch. Doors open at 11:45 a.m., Capacity is limited and food is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

‘Julia Child: A Recipe For Life’
This exhibition of an American icon will be held at the Muskegon Museum of Art from June 5 to September 1.
Attendees will step into a replica of Child’s famous TV set; experience the sights and sounds of her kitchen and explore an amazing interactive exhibition of her legacy.
