This event series will connect residents with public safety in neighborhood parks. The events will feature free food, games, giveaways, safety information, and four bike raffles per event (two girls and two boys) with helmets for ages 12 and under. Every event will feature one $50 Visa gift card giveaway for ages 13 to 18 years old.
Fire trucks and police patrol cars will be at each event for residents to get a close look at them. The events will run from noon to 1:30 p.m. on the following dates.
• Wednesday, July 23: MLK Recreation Center, 1107 Adrian St.
• Wednesday, Aug. 13: Kiwanis Park, 1521 Blakely Ave.
Police Chief Christopher Simpson says it is our responsibility to give to our community, not only through service and protection, but through acts of kindness and generosity that help foster community trust and collaboration. It is only through this vessel that both the community and police can attain a fruitful relationship. City personnel look forward to this fun filled event with the community.
CodeRED mass communication messages will go out to neighborhoods before the events to inform residents about the summer fun. Event updates will be posted on the City’s Facebook page.
