She graduated from high school and while in college she met Barry Capel. Jackie and Barry married on Aug. 11, 1978. They raised their four children in Hudsonville and they are members of Georgetown Christian Reformed Church.
Jackie was the special glue of the Capel family. Her priority was serving her family, friends, church, and community the best way possible. Jackie always enjoyed hosting family events, preparing meals, baking, and making people feel welcomed, seen, and loved. Jackie was a dedicated “soccer mom” for her four kids, always there and always supportive.

She was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Jim Slegers.

Linda Weber, 87
Linda Lou Weber, 87, of Burnips, passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2025.
Linda was born Aug. 29, 1937 in Burnips, and lived there her entire life. She went to Hudsonville High School and worked at Michigan Bell as an accountant after graduating. She married Jim Weber in 1959 and stopped working to be a stay-at-home mom after their daughter, Jamie, was born. Jeff, Shari and Shawn soon followed.
When Jim and Linda’s youngest started kindergarten at Burnips Elementary School, Linda started working at the school. She continued to work at Hamilton Community Schools as a teacher’s aide and reading tutor until she retired. Linda loved teaching kids to read and her students knew she cared about them, not just their reading scores.
The foundation underpinning all of Linda’s life was her faith. She was raised in the Burnips United Methodist Church and lived the values she learned in that church through service. She was a Sunday school teacher, a youth group leader, led a Bible study and prayer group and was an active member in the church’s women’s group.
Linda also regularly volunteered at Camp Sunshine, a program for kids with intellectual and developmental disabilities, which resonated for Linda because of her sister Karen who passed away at the age of 16. Acceptance and unconditional love for others were core values Linda put into action throughout her life, directly stemming from her faith.
Linda was preceded in death by her husband, James Weber, on May 26, 2025.
She is survived by her children, Jamie and Jim Bussis, Jeff and Susie Weber, Shari Weber, and Shawn and Tara Weber; 16 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Marie Alward; and her best friend since high school, Joyce Dalman.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. on Friday, July 25, at Burnips United Methodist Church, 4241 30th St., Burnips. Interment will be in Salem Township Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Friday at Yntema Funeral Home, 251 S. State St., Zeeland.
In lieu of flowers – and in keeping with Linda’s values – memorial contributions may be given to The Literacy Center of West Michigan at literacycenterwm.org/give or by mail to 1120 Monroe Ave. NW Ste 240, Grand Rapids, MI 49503; or to Camp Sunshine at campsunshinemichigan.org/donate or by mail to 291 W. Gordon L. Grevengoed, 93
Gordon Louis Grevengoed, 93, of Zeeland, transitioned peacefully from home into his heavenly home on Saturday, July 12, 2025.
Gordon was a devoted and loving husband, a committed father to his six children, and a fun and supportive grandfather and great-grandfather of 36. But most of all, he was a man of deep faith in his Lord Jesus Christ that fueled his life of passionate service.
Gordon was born in Grand Rapids on Aug. 11, 1931, to Clarence and Alta Grevengoed. Already mischievous as a boy, Gordon combined his fun-loving nature with instruction of the importance of faith and family and living a life of dedication to God. He met the love of his life, Marilyn Dykstra, when his family moved into the same neighborhood in Holland, though he didn’t quite know it then.
Gord loved sports and played whatever he could while attending Holland Christian High School, graduating in 1949. He attended Calvin College for two years, then Davenport Business College, when he was offered a job at Holland Motor Express.
In 1952, Gord joined the Marines and was stationed in Japan where he awaited transport to Korea, though the war ended before he was sent.
In 1956, he was offered the position of a teller at Ottawa Savings & Loan. Once there, he worked his way through various management positions, culminating in the position of president. He delighted in bringing his innovative energy to help the company grow, resulting in the merger with AmeriBank and the eventual sale to Fifth Third Bank.
Meanwhile, the friendship with Marilyn flourished into a strong, loving bond and they were married in 1957. They were blessed with a large family of six children within 10 years. Gord took his responsibilities as a father and provider seriously and worked diligently at the bank, as a basketball referee, and as a manager of the Holland softball league throughout these years.
In the midst of work and fun, Gordon lived a life of service. He was a dedicated member and leader of Faith Christian Reformed Church, and served on multiple boards in the community including Holland Rescue Mission (now Gateway) and Resthaven. He was a member of the Rotary Club and as president made sure to open each meeting with a good, clean joke.
Gordon was predeceased by his parents, Clarence and Alta (Vork) Grevengoed; his in-laws, Jack and Kay (Vos) Dykstra; his brother and sister-in-law, Merle and Marlys Grevengoed; his brothers-in-law, Larry Dykstra and Jim Rozendal; his son-in-law, Scott Witteveen; and his great-granddaughter, Luna Rose Veenstra.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Marilyn (Dykstra) Grevengoed; his children, Deb Witteveen, Sandra Stoller, Nancy and Bob Jonker, Kathleen and David Veenstra, Kristi and David Gortsema, and David Grevengoed; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; his sister, Eleanor Rozendal; his sister-in-law, Patricia Dykstra; and his brother- and sister-in-law, Calvin and Linda (Hertel) Dykstra; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express appreciation to Hospice of Holland who supported Gordon and the family through his final months of life.
Funeral services with military honors were held Friday, July 18 at Faith Christian Reformed Church, 85 W. 26th St., Holland. Burial was in Pilgrim Home Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to Gateway, Mission India, or Hospice of Holland.
