With the approach of license renewal season, the State Bar of Michigan is reminding all attorneys to make sure their contact information is up to date to ensure that they receive renewal notices and that they properly adhere to membership rules.
License renewal begins annually in September. Michigan attorneys are required to keep their current name, mailing address, and email address on file with the State Bar of Michigan. (SBR 2).
Member contact and profile information can be updated in the Member Area of the website.
Click "Manage address, profile, preferences, upload photo, and passwords" to check and/or edit your information.
Michigan attorneys also have the option of updating their demographic information through their profiles.
Demographic information is not publicly displayed; it is for internal use and demographic reporting. Members have the option of specifying their gender and can identify their race/ethnicity through their online profiles. Members can also have the option of choosing “Prefer not to Answer.”
Other profile information includes phone number, website, and secondary address; privacy preferences; MiFile email address; and other communication preferences.
