Robert M. Meisner of West Bloomfield died July 26, 2025, at the age of 80.
Born in 1944 in Detroit to Ivan and Ruth Meisner, Meisner earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Michigan, and obtained his law degree from the University of Michigan Law School.
Meisner represented clients for more than 55 years, founding a successful law practice in Bingham Farms. He represented hundreds of clients, including the United Condominium Owners of Michigan (UCOM), for more than 50 years since its inception in 1974.
He was also an educator, teaching at two law schools and conducting numerous seminars, webinars, and speaking engagements throughout Michigan and nationally. He hosted the radio show "The Law of the Land," authored the books “Condo Living” and “Condo Living 2,” wrote many newspaper columns and articles, and co-drafted the 1978 Michigan Condominium Act.
Meisner's accolades include being named a Fellow and inductee in the College of Community Association Lawyers at the Community Associations Institute, a five-time Michigan Super Lawyer, being honored as one of the 2014 Leaders in the Law by Michigan Lawyers Weekly, selected three times as a Top Metro Detroit Lawyer, a 50th Golden Anniversary Honoree with the State Bar of Michigan, and recipient of the Hall of Fame Award from Michigan Lawyers Weekly.
Meisner was an ardent supporter of Michigan Wolverines football, attending games at home and away. He also loved U of M basketball, Detroit Tigers, Lions football, Rose Bowl, Red Wings games, and Pistons games.
Meisner served as a council member of the Michigan Rail Passengers Association, working to improve rail access in Michigan.
A funeral service was conducted July 28 by The Ira Kaufman Chapel.
