New Fitness Classes Starting Up at Zeeland Rec

New fitness classes that have been added at Zeeland Recreation will be starting up next week.

Here’s a list of the new classes:

WERQ Dance Fitness Class (starts Monday/included in senior fitness memberships)

WERQ Dance Fitness is a pre-choreographed cardio dance workout class that combines popular pop and hip-hop music with athletic dance moves. It's a fun, energetic, and intense way to get a full-body workout, build cardiovascular endurance and to have a blast dancing! The class is designed to be inclusive and welcomes people of all fitness levels, with modifications available and no dance history necessary.

Tori McClure will be the instructor for the class, which meets Mondays from 10 to 11 a.m.

Barre Fusion (starts Tuesday/ included in senior fitness memberships)

Feel stronger and more energized with this total body workout! It’s an athletic approach to barre using a weighted bar and Pilates ball. This class will incorporate standing and mat work for toning upper and lower body, with deep core activation while challenging your balance and coordination.

The class will be led by Stephani Hop, and meets Tuesdays from 8 to 8:45 a.m. in Zeeland Recreation Shoreline Studio in the second floor of the recreation center.

Full Body Reset (starts Tuesday/included in senior fitness memberships)

Take a break from your day and recharge with this low-impact, full-body workout designed to energize without leaving you drenched. In just 45 minutes, you’ll move through a series of strength, mobility, and core-focused exercises that build stability, improve posture, and boost circulation.

Perfect for all fitness levels, this class keeps it light on the sweat but strong on results — so you can head back to your day feeling refreshed, not rushed or in need of a long shower.

Erica Boerman is the instructor for the class, which will meet Tuesdays from 12:15 to 1 p.m.

Rise & Lift (Starts Friday, Sept. 12)

Rise & Lift is a 45-minute full-body workout that blends targeted strength training with energizing cardio bursts to wake up your muscles and jumpstart your day. Each session includes resistance circuits using dumbbells, bands, or bodyweight — paired with short, heart-pumping intervals to elevate your endurance without overwhelming your joints.

It’s the perfect mix of challenge and support for early risers who want to build strength, boost stamina, and leave feeling strong and accomplished. All fitness levels welcome, with plenty of options to modify or progress.

Cara Hoffman will teach the class, which meets Fridays from 6:05 to 6:50 a.m.

In addition, the Cardio Drumming class will meet starting next Tuesday at a new location, in the Zeeland Recreation Shoreline Studio on the second floor of the recreation center. The class is included in senior fitness memberships.

Get your heart pumping and your body moving in this high-energy, music-driven workout. Cardio Drumming combines rhythm, movement, and fun to deliver a full-body cardiovascular workout that boosts coordination, improves motor skills, and tones muscles. Whether you're standing, seated, or jumping to the beat, this class is adaptable for all fitness levels.

Kendra Davito will lead the class, which meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7 to 7:45 a.m. and Wednesdays from 10 to 10:45 a.m.
