As I complete my first year as editor of the Zeeland Record, I want to take the opportunity to thank all of you for continuing to support this publication. I have noticed an increase in subscriptions over the year, and I would like to believe that’s been in response to our efforts to keep residents of the Zeeland area informed of the major happenings and events going on in our community.
I am of the old-fashioned belief that there is no better way to be informed of what is going on in your community than by reading the local newspaper. As other media outlets around West Michigan have curtailed, or in some cases, eliminated coverage of local city councils, township boards and school boards, the Zeeland Record has kept its finger on the pulse of what is going on in your community.
I have also been heartened and encouraged by the responses from people I have encountered who have read the Zeeland Record this year and have appreciated our efforts to cover the community – whether it’s tracking the ongoing discussion over the Mead Johnson project on the city’s east side, the search for a new Zeeland Public Schools superintendent, or following the fortunes of the Chix and the Dux on the field, court, pool or track. Your support has meant so much to me personally.
As we begin 2026, it is my continued commitment to you, the reader, to provide you with the most complete coverage of news in the Zeeland area. I would encourage you to tell your neighbors about our work and to encourage them to consider a subscription to the Zeeland Record.
