Four Hurt in Jamestown Crash

Four people, including two from Zeeland, were injured Sunday morning in a two-vehicle crash in Jamestown Township.

The crash occurred shortly after 11:30 a.m. in the 200 block of Adams Street. An investigation by the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office said a 2006 Mercury Mariner, driven by a 21-year-old Zeeland man, was eastbound on Adams when it crossed the center line and struck a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by a 63-year-old Byron Center woman.

The driver of the Mariner was pinned in his vehicle and had to be extricated by Jamestown Township firefighters. A 79-year-old Zeeland man who was a passenger in the Mariner was ejected from the vehicle. Both occupants were taken to a local hospital with serious injuries, Sgt. Michael Tamminga of the sheriff’s office said in a news release.

Neither of the two occupants of the Mariner were wearing seat belts, Tamminga said.

The driver of the Grand Cherokee and a 65-year-old Byron Center man who was a passenger in that vehicle were taken to a local hospital with serious injuries, Tamminga said.

The crash remains under investigation by the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.
