The Zeeland High Players will present its spring musical, “The Addams Family,” March 11-14 at the DeWitt Center for the Arts at Zeeland East High School, 3333 96th Ave.

Show time each night is 7 p.m.

Based on the book by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice and with music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa, “The Addams Family” musical features an original story and a dilemma that is every father’s nightmare: Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family – a man her parents have never met.

Wednesday tells her father, Gomez what has happened and begs him not to tell her mother, Morticia. This puts Gomez in the awkward position of something he has never done before – keep a secret from his wife. Everything will change for the whole family when they host a dinner for Wednesday’s “normal” boyfriend and his parents.

“While The Addams Family Musical is our silliest show of the season, I hope you walk away from the theater feeling lighter, I also hope you learn to move toward your darkness – to live truly and authentically,” Zeeland High Players director Grace Vande Waa said.

“The Addams Family” school edition has been adopted from the original Broadway production and has been edited for performance by high school groups.

Christie Ricketts will portray Wednesday Addams, while Alejandro Lozano will play her father, Gomez. Emerson Henry has been cast in the role of Morticia.
