Two spring programs will take place in the coming weeks: loose leaf collection and hydrant flushing. These services support neighborhood cleanliness and help maintain the city’s water system. Residents are encouraged to take note of the following upcoming service dates:
Loose Leaf Collection March 30 through April 10
The city’s spring loose leaf collection program helps remove leftover leaves from the fall and winter months, keeping streets clear and preventing leaves from entering storm drains.
Residents are asked to place loose leaf piles along curbs at street level so crews can perform an efficient collection. Leaves should be placed at the curb no earlier than 48 hours before the scheduled start of collection in their area.
To ensure crews can safely access leaf piles, residents should remove vehicles, basketball hoops, and other obstructions from the street during collection periods.

Hydrant Flushing Program April 20 through May 11
Beginning April 20, the City of Jackson will conduct its annual hydrant flushing program throughout the city’s water system and surrounding service areas.
Hydrant flushing is an important maintenance activity that helps maintain water quality by removing iron and sediment from water mains, cleaning pipes, and refreshing the water system.
During flushing, residents may notice temporary water discoloration or reduced water pressure. The water remains safe to drink, and discoloration typically clears within a short time. Residents are advised to avoid washing laundry while flushing is taking place in their neighborhood.
