The USS Silversides Submarine Museum, with a World War II?submarine and a 2-story museum and a gift store, is open for summer hours through October 31, from 10 a.m., to 5 p.m., 7 days a week. The museum is located is at 1346 Bluff St.

‘Music of the Beach Boys’
coming in October
Catch the sun-soaked sounds of Endless Summer as the Beach Boys join the West Michigan Symphony for full orchestral arrangements of timeless hits like “Good Vibrations,” “Surfin’ U.S.A.,” “California Girls,” “Wouldn’t It Be Nice,” and more.
The concert is set 7:30 p.m., Friday, October 2, at the Frauenthal Center.
‘Mo Willems & Friends’ runs at
the MMA through June 21
The Muskegon Museum of Art hosts “Mo Willems & Friends” through June 21.
Among Willems’s best known creations are the Pigeon (Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!), The Knuffle Bunny trilogy and his Elephant and Piggie books, a series of early readers.
Willems began his career as a writer and animator for television, garnering six Emmy Awards for his writing on Sesame Street, creating Nickelodeon’s The Off-Beats, Cartoon Network’s Sheep in the Big City and head-writing Codename: Kids Next Door.
Often called “the Dr. Seuss of his generation,” Willems is a New York Times #1 Best Selling author and illustrator, and has garnered three Caldecott Honors, two Theodor (Seuss) Geisel Medals, two Carnegie Medals, and a Geisel Honor.
