Mitchell W. Lys joins Mika Meyers

Mitchell W. Lys, has joined Mika Meyers PLC, as an associate. He will be based out of the firm’s Grand Rapids office.

Lys concentrates his practice on estate and trust planning, oil and gas, and real estate. 

He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, with a minor in Economics, graduating with honors, from Michigan State University and received his Juris Doctor from Michigan State University College of Law.

Prior to joining the firm, Lys worked for Fidelity National Financial investigating title insurance claims involving mortgage execution, lien priority, chain of title defects, and other title related issues.

Andrew Lukas joins Rhoades McKee

Rhoades McKee is pleased to announce that attorney Andrew Lukas has joined the law firm, as a member of the Appellate Law Team.

Lukas brings significant experience in appellate advocacy and litigation strategy to the  team. His background includes practicing before Michigan appellate courts and serving within the judiciary at both the trial and appellate levels. His experience allows him to evaluate complex legal issues with a focus on long-term client success and effective appellate strategy.

A graduate of DePaul University College of Law and Kalamazoo College, Lukas is admitted to practice in Michigan and is a member of the Grand Rapids Bar Association and the State Bar of Michigan.

SBM committee applications due July 31

Applications are open to volunteer for a State Bar of Michigan committee during the 2026-2027 bar year. Applications are due by noon Friday, July 31. To apply, SBM members should visit https://vapp.michbar.org. All appointed committee members must apply for reappointment annually. 

Appointments run from October 1, 2026, to September 30, 2027, and will be announced in mid-September.
