Harvest Stand Ministries has hit a fundraising milestone that will allow the local nonprofit to begin work next year on its future facility.
Harvest Stand’s “Fighting Hunger, Building Hope” capital campaign has surpassed the $2 million mark in commitments and gifts – exceeding the $1.95 million benchmark the food bank said it needed to begin the construction and renovation phase of its project at 322 W. Washington Ave.
“Our supporters have made this incredible milestone possible,” Harvest Stand Executive Director Jordan Palladino said. “Surpassing $2 million is more than a fundraising achievement, it represents a community coming together to invest in hope. We are deeply grateful to every donor, volunteer, and advocate who has helped bring us to this point.”
The campaign has a final goal of $2.55 million, with fundraising expected to continue through the end of 2028. The remaining funds will support the complete vision for the project and ensure the organization is well-positioned to serve the community for years to come. Palladino said.
The new Harvest Stand Ministries center will be 18,000 square feet, nearly triple the ministry’s existing 6,500-square-foot footprint, Palladino told the Zeeland Record last fall when the campaign had its public launch.
Currently located inside the City on a Hill ministry center, Harvest Stand Ministries provides free food, free clothing and resource connection assistance to individuals and families in need throughout the Zeeland community.
Renovations on the Washington Avenue building are scheduled to begin in early spring 2027, with Harvest Stand planning to move into its newly renovated facility in late fall 2027. The renovated space will enhance the organization's capacity to meet the growing needs of the community while providing a more efficient and welcoming environment for clients, volunteers, and staff, Palladino said.
“We're excited to celebrate this milestone, but our journey isn't over,” Palladino said. “We invite our community to continue partnering with us as we work toward our final campaign goal. Together, we are building more than a facility. We are making sure we can respond to human need with the love of Christ for decades to come.”
