Gary Lohman, 76
Gary Lohman, 76, of Zeeland, passed away Sunday, July 26, 2026, following complications from a subdural hematoma.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Carol; daughter, Stephanie and Jon Van Dam; grandson, JJ Van Dam; siblings, Bonnie and Terry Garvelink, Bev and Larry Grotenhuis, and Diane and Henry Kloosterman; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary Jo and Jim Huizenga.
Gary graduated from Hamilton High School and attended Davenport College. Gary was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved being outdoors.
A private graveside service was to be held in Zeeland Cemetery with Pastor Josh Harrington officiating.

Luanne Busscher, 73
Luanne Kay Busscher, 73, of Borculo, passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2026.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Ella Kloosterman; father-in-law, Kenneth Busscher; granddaughter, Grace Busscher; brother and sister-in-law, Dan and Deb Kloosterman; sister-in-law, Karen Kloosterman; and brother-in-law, Wayne Busscher.
Luanne was born Jan. 25, 1953, in Zeeland, and graduated from Holland Christian High School in 1971. She married Jack Busscher on Dec. 13, 1974, and they raised their four children at their home in Borculo.
Luanne was a lifelong active member of Borculo Christian Reformed Church, having served on a number of committees, singing in the church choir, and participating in a number of mission service projects. Luanne also worked for Meadow Ridge Greenhouses for many years and was instrumental in the family deer processing business.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Jack; their children and grandchildren, Jody and Bill Broekhuizen (Nicole and Isaiah Uitvlugt, Emily Broekhuizen, Sydney Broekhuizen), Tami and Ryan Miedema (Samuel and Maddie Miedema, Rachel Miedema, Jack Miedema and his fiance Jordyn), Brian and Kathy Busscher (Jackson, Greyson, Lydia, Evelyn), and Todd Busscher (Chase, Karston, Hoyt, Savannah); siblings, Carrol and Jim Granzo and Scott and Lisa Kloosterman; mother-in-law, Wilma Busscher; and Jack's siblings, Larry and Peg Busscher, Val Busscher, Nancy and Norm Hoekstra, Kel and Kim Busscher, Rita and Jeff Austhof, and Mark and Ruth Busscher; and many extended family members.
The Busscher family wishes to extend a special thank you to the caregivers of Anchor In-Home Care for their wonderful care they extended to Luanne.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today at Borculo Christian Reformed Church, 6464 96th Ave., Zeeland. Interment will be in Borculo Cemetery.

Harris Dale Overway, 81, of Zeeland, passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2026.
Funeral services with military honors will be 11 a.m. Friday, July 31 at Borculo Christian Reformed Church, 6464 96th Ave., Zeeland. Burial will be in Borculo Cemetery.
Visitation will be today from 4 to 7 p.m. at Yntema Funeral Home, 251 S. State St., Zeeland.

Thomas Vredeveld, 52
Thomas James Vredeveld, 52, of Zeeland, passed away on Friday, July 24, 2026.
Born Dec. 8, 1973, in Zeeland, he grew up with a curious mind, an adventurous spirit and an independent, stubborn streak that contributed to his resilience and strength.
Tom was not afraid of getting dirty, digging into motors, driving in the Bump & Run at county fairs, and lending a hand to anyone who needed it. He worked in the constantly evolving automotive world, and was highly trusted and respected for his diagnostic skills. Seldom without his Snap-on hat, he honed his mechanical skills through his long-term employment with Muffler Man, where he also built friendships with customers and colleagues.
Tom leaves behind his daughter, Vanessa (Warren) Hazlewood and their soon-to-arrive son; son, Jaydon Vredeveld; and daughter, Faith Vredeveld. Also surviving are his mother, Nancy Vredeveld; sister, Tracy (Cerry) VanFleeren; twin brother, Tim (Joanne) Vredeveld; nieces, Mikayla (Logan) Welcher and Autumn (Natasha) Chorney; nephew, Desmond (Devon) Rio; and many great-nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Vredeveld, and niece, Aleyah VanFleeren.
Memorial services were held on Wednesday, July 29, at Family Church-Grace Campus, 9530 Woodbridge St., Zeeland, with pastor Adam Grill officiating.

Judith Faber, 86
Judith Ann Faber passed away on Thursday, July 23, 2026, in Holland at the age of 86.
Judy was born on Oct. 28, 1939, in Elizabeth, N.J. Faith guided her life and shaped her values, and it showed in the way she loved and cared for everyone she met.
Judy earned her bachelor's degree from Hope College and later a master's in religious education from Western Theological Seminary. Those years brought her lifelong
friendships and, most importantly, her husband, Jack. Together they raised three children to be caring, loving, and welcoming of others.
Her masterful teaching of the Bethel Bible Series and her spiritual leadership encouraged others to be a light in the world. She shared her gifts selflessly and had a passion for helping people grow in their faith. Judy believed that anyone could find peace and joy, no matter where they were on their path.
Judy was known for hosting gatherings that left no one out, and she always made room at her table. Exchange students, foster children, refugees — anyone with nowhere else to go found a welcome in her home. She knew God loved everyone, without exception, and she lived out that belief with the kindness, compassion, and grace of an angel on earth.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Gunnar and Betty (Garrett) Eastman; her parents-in-law, Calvin and Frances (Roelofs) Faber; and a chosen daughter, Jeanette Schipper.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Jack; her children, Wendy and Kevin Rebhan of Holland, Jim Faber of Richmond, Va., and Dan and Jennifer Faber of Pennington, N.J.; grandchildren, Nicholas and Jordan Rebhan, Rachel and Braeden Blazek, Daniel Rebhan, Garrett Faber, Elayna Faber, Celeste Faber, and Sydney Faber; her chosen grandchildren, Marcella Soto, Austin and Haley Schipper, and Lily Schipper; great-grandson, Harrison Gunnar Blazek, who carries her father's name; sister, Penny and John Welch of Seaside Park, N.J.; sister-in-law, Betty and Howard Jansen of Jenison; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 1, at First Presbyterian Church, 659 State St. in Holland, with Rev. Cathy Hoop officiating.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 31, at Dykstra Funeral Homes – Mulder Chapel, 188 W. 32nd St. in Holland.

Landon Creevy, 40
Landon Grant Creevy, 40, passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2026.
Although life ended far too soon, Landon filled every chapter of his life with laughter, love, and a spirit that left an unforgettable mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Landon was born Sept. 4, 1985, in Holland to Chad and Mary Jo Creevy. He was a devoted brother to Chad K. Creevy (Dana Creevy), and to Jorie Harris (Justin Harris).
One of Landon's greatest joys was being the proud F'uncle to seven cherished nieces: Olivia Hamilton (Brendan Hamilton), Marcy Creevy, Ellesyn Creevy, Lydia Harris, Celia Harris, Emilia Harris, and Cora Harris. Landon treasured every opportunity to make them laugh, cheer them on, and create memories they will carry forever.
Landon was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Paul and Shirley Creevy, and maternal grandparents, William and Gladys Sexton.
Landon was a graduate of Fennville High School and Central Michigan University, where he earned a degree in broadcasting. He built a career in restaurant and retail management, most recently at Crane's In The City.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 27 at Pillar Church in Holland, with Rev. Dr. Jon Brown officiating.

Marilyn Elzinga, 88
Marilyn Ruth Elzinga, 88, of Zeeland, quietly passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2026.
Marilyn was a devoted wife and mom, loved to engage and entertain her family; a grandmother who was sometimes a little 'sassy' but always sweet. She enjoyed writing poetry, camping, and throwing a great Easter egg hunt.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Elzinga; and son, Karl Elzinga.
She is survived by her children, Michael and Ruth Elzinga, Randy Elzinga, Patricia and Dan Vanden Heuvel; daughter-in-law, Mary Elzinga; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; sister, Sherry and Harold Diepenhorst; in-laws, Allen Elzinga, Elaine Elzinga, Terry and Sandy Elzinga; and numerous extended family members.
Funeral services were held on Monday, July 27 at First Protestant Reformed Church, 3641 104th Ave., Zeeland, with Rev. Justin Smidstra officiating. Burial took place in Zeeland Cemetery.

Lorraine Becksfort, 85
Lorraine Becksfort, 85, of Zeeland, passed away on Monday, July 20, 2026.
Lorraine was born Jan. 22, 1941 in Zeeland to Leonard and Ann (Schipper) Raterink. She attended Zeeland Christian School and graduated from Zeeland High School in 1959.
She worked as a nurse at Zeeland Community Hospital for 40-plus years.
Lorraine married David Becksfort in July 1960, and they raised their two children in Zeeland. For many years they were members of First Christian Reformed Church of Zeeland, and Lorraine more recently attended North Holland Reformed Church. David preceded Lorraine in death in 2015.
Lorraine is survived by her children, Doug and Barb Becksfort, and Deb and John VanNuil; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Ross and Sarah Becksfort (David, Emma, Andrew), Ryan and Kelsey Becksfort (Colton, Marleigh), Heather and Jimmy Holton (William, Theodore), Allison and Matt Bosman (Levi), and Emily and Charles Henley (Charlea, Easton); sister, Betty Morren; brother, Harvey Raterink; sister-in-law, Janice VanderZwaag; and many extended family members.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 24 at North Holland Reformed Church, 12050 New Holland St., Holland. Burial took place in Zeeland Cemetery.

Betty Hassevoort, 88
Betty Hassevoort, 88, of Hudsonville, passed away on Friday, July 3, 2026.
Betty was born Feb. 27, 1938 in Zeeland to the late Manus and Gertrude DeRoo. She was a longtime member of North Blendon Christian Reformed Church, where she faithfully shared her time and talents in many ways.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Don Hassevoort; brother, Gerald DeRoo; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. She is survived by her children, Jan (Kevin) Zoerhof, Gloria (John) Nagelkirk, Sheryl (Doug) Ulberg, Doug (Sue) Hassevoort, Darlene Ham, and Dan (Mary) Hassevoort; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; siblings, Bern (Janet) DeRoo, Dorothy DeRoo, Art (Arlene) DeRoo, Wayne (Joyce) Blaukamp and Harv (Sherri) DeRoo; siblings-in-law, Ken Knap, Terry Kraai, Bev Hassevoort; and many, many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 10 at North Blendon Christian Reformed Church, 7284 Taylor St., Hudsonville, with Rev. Aaron Vriesman officiating. Burial was in Blendon Township Cemetery.
