The Zeeland Historical Society will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Dekker Huis Museum when it holds its annual ice cream social next Thursday.
The social will take place from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the museum, 37 E. Main Ave.
“This event has become a favorite event for many families,” historical society interim director and curator Audrey Rojo said. “This year, we're excited to welcome the community to celebrate five decades of preserving Zeeland's history.”
Since opening its doors in 1976, the Dekker Huis Museum has welcomed generations of visitors, preserving and sharing the stories, artifacts, and traditions that have shaped Zeeland and the surrounding community.
Guests of all ages are invited to enjoy complimentary ice cream while exploring the museum, playing historic yard games, and taking a ride in a beautifully-restored Ford Model A. The museum will be open throughout the event, giving visitors the opportunity to explore the exhibits at their own pace and learn more about Zeeland's history.
Admission and ice cream are free thanks to the generosity of historical society supporters. While the event is free to attend, advance registration is encouraged to help organizers prepare for the evening.
