USS LST 393 Veterans Museum has joined Blue Star Museums, the Michigan Activity Pass and Museums for All to make the historic World War II ship more affordable and more accessible to thousands of families.
These statewide and national programs provide free admission to military families as well as reduced fees for holders of library cards and people receiving food assistance. The programs got under way Aug. 1.
“History belongs to everyone,” said Ryan Lancaster, director of LST 393 museum on the Muskegon lakeshore. “These programs will open our gangway to more people walking our decks, exploring our ship and hearing the stories of the men and women who served.”
Blue Star Museums provides free admission for active-duty military families, National Guard and Reserve, NOAA and public health officers. The 2026 programs will run through Labor Day. It is sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts and Blue Star Families.
The Michigan Activity Pass connects public library patrons with discounted admissions to museums, parks and other attractions. Patrons can show their library cards and obtain discounted tickets at their local library.
Museums for All provides discounted access for people receiving food assistance. Visitors who present an EBT card will receive admission for $5.
LST 393 is one of the last surviving D-Day ships and serves as a veterans museum with thousands of artifacts and exhibits. Open 10-5 pm (last ticket sold at 4 pm) Tuesday through Sunday, a reduced season will begin after Labor Day. Visit www.lst393.org for more information.
