Holland Man Critical After Crash

A 73-year-old Holland man was critically injured over the weekend in a crash involving his motorcycle and a pickup truck in Grand Haven Township.

The crash took place shortly before 11 a.m. Saturday near the intersection of U.S. 31 and 152nd Avenue.

An initial investigation by the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office showed the Holland man was riding his motorcycle northbound on U.S. 31, approaching 152nd Avenue, when a pickup truck driven by a 46-year-old West Olive man that was pulling a trailer pulled out into the path of the motorcycle.

The Holland man was forced to lay the motorcycle down and slid into the side of the pickup truck, Sgt. Jon Knott of the sheriff’s office said in a news release.

The motorcycle rider was transported to an area hospital for treatment. The driver of the pickup was not hurt. The crash closed down northbound U.S. 31 for a period of time for investigation and cleanup.
