Japanese judge visits WSU

Judge Kentaro Ono (pictured) of the Osaka District Court presented a lecture titled “An Introduction to Japanese Juvenile Delinquency Procedure” during a recent appearance at Wayne State University Law School. Ono’s visit was part of a special arrangement between Wayne Law, Wayne County Circuit Court and the Supreme Court of Japan under which a judge from the Japanese judicial system visits Michigan to research and study the American judicial system. Wayne Law Dean and Professor of Law Robert Ackerman said Ono’s “observations on criminal procedure in the Japanese courts have provided Wayne Law students, faculty, staff and friends with a better understanding of our own legal system.”
