The Eastern District of Michigan Chapter of the Federal Bar Association wrapped up its recent “Trial Advocacy & Mentoring Program” with a hands-on session at the Theodore Levin U.S. Courthouse in Detroit. The program was designed specifically with “newer” lawyers in mind but was open to any attorney seeking hands-on experience in fundamental litigation skills. Participants worked in tandem with judges and seasoned attorneys who offered guidance on direct and cross examination, opening statements, and closing arguments. Among those taking part in the program were (left to right) I.W. Winsten of Honigman, Miller, Schwartz, & Cohn LLP; Ed Kronk of Brooks, Wilkins, Sharkey, & Turco PLLC; Ivory Perkins of Ogletree Deakins; Melissa Moore of Bodman PLC; and Jim McCaskin.
