Judicial Reception
Miller, Canfield, Paddock, and Stone PLC hosted a reception honoring former Miller Canfield principal and recently appointed U.S. District Court Judge Matthew F. Leitman (third from left) at the Community House in Birmingham on Wednesday, May 21. Among those supporting Leitman were (l-r) Susan Leitman, Miller Canfield Principal Michael P. McGee, Joshua Leitman, Kelly Leitman, Natalie Leitman, and Rebecca Veidlinger. Leitman was nominated to the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Michigan, by President Barack Obama on July 25, 2013, and confirmed by the United States Senate on March 12, 2014. He clerked for Michigan Supreme Court Justice Charles L. Levin from 1993-1994 and was in private practice from 1994 until his appointment. His private practice focused on complex commercial litigation, criminal defense, and appellate litigation. Leitman was recently featured in the news for having ordered longtime Michigan Rep. John Conyers on the upcoming primary ballot after a snag with petition signatures threatened his candidacy.
