Aaron Burrell, who received his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan, with distinction, and his J.D. from the Western Michigan University Thomas M. Cooley Law School, magna cum laude, is an associate in Dickinson Wright PLLC’s Detroit office.
He focuses his practice in the areas of appellate, commercial & business litigation, labor & employment, and minority business enterprises.
Burrell was recently elected to the Oakland County Bar Association’s Board of Directors and serves as immediate past president of the D. Augustus Straker Bar Association.
He is a member of the Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association, the Wolverine Bar Association, the National Bar Association, and the American Bar Association.

What would surprise people about your job? The fact that you learn so much regarding so many different industries. As a litigator, I have had the opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge regarding the inner workings of the automotive, food, transportation, municipal governance, and banking fields, to name a few.
What is your most treasured material possession? My wedding ring.
Favorite local hangouts: The Townhouse, Centre Park Bar and Grill, Lelli’s of Auburn Hills.

What do you wish someone would invent? A time machine that would allow me to not only travel through time, but that would also slow down and accelerate time.
Who is on your guest list for the ideal dinner party? My wife, family, and dog, Bubbles.
If you could trade places with someone for a day, who would that be? President Barack H. Obama.
What’s the most awe-inspiring place you’ve ever been? Traveling through the ancient ruins in Rome, Italy.
What is your proudest moment as a lawyer? Anytime I am able to deliver a successful result for my clients.
What about your professional life today most excites you? The intellectual challenge inherent in arguing my clients’ positions.
How did you earn your first dollar? I sold candy in elementary school and took the funds to purchase stocks (with the help of my parents, of course).
Who inspires you, and why? My parents and grandparents, for setting the example for me and providing a foundation for me to excel.
Favorite place to spend money: A beachside resort.
What do you do to relax? Exercise, read, watch TV/movies, travel.
What is one thing you would like to learn to do? Speak Spanish fluently.
What is something most people don't know about you? I have a first degree black belt in Moo Duk Kwan Tang Soo Do.
What is the best advice you ever received? “There is no substitute for hard work.”
