‘Facilitating Dynamics & Conflicts’ topic of State Bar webinar
The State Bar of Michigan’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Section is hosting its “Facilitating Group Dynamics & Conflicts” webinar on Tuesday, June 23, from noon to 1:30 p.m.
Anyone interested in expanding an ADR practice, or ready to put peacemaking skills to use outside the litigation arena, will learn to facilitate conflict in any group dynamic, organizers say.
Participants will learn to assess the root causes, use the appropriate resources, gain participant confidence, establish trust, build effective channels of communication, and coach individuals to engage more constructively.
The program features three group conflict facilitators —Tracy Allen, Barbara Johannessen and Mike Nowakowski.

Wayne Law to co-host webinar examining cybersecurity threats
The Levin Center at Wayne State University Law School and the Wayne Law Review are jointly hosting a panel on congressional oversight of issues related to cybersecurity.
The webinar, titled “Battling Cybersecurity Threats: Role of Congressional Oversight,” will be offered via Zoom on Wednesday, June 24, from 2 to 3:15 p.m.
Speakers will include Patrick Warren, counsel to the U.S. Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, who will discuss cybersecurity oversight efforts in which his panel is involved, including its 2019 report on cyber vulnerabilities at eight agencies.
The online event, which is free and open to the public, will utilize a Zoom webinar platform.

AG to review case involving man’s death at area shopping mall
State Attorney General Dana Nessel has announced that her office will review the case involving the death of 25-year-old McKenzie Cochran, who died in 2014 after a struggle with security staff at the Northland Mall in Southfield.
The case was investigated by the Southfield Police Department and reviewed by the Oakland County Prosecutor. A decision was then made not to issue any criminal charges against any of the security staff.
Now, both these agencies have requested the attorney general review the entire case.
“My office will conduct a thorough and comprehensive review of this case to determine whether any additional action should have been taken in response to
Mr. Cochran’s death,” Nessel said. “If the evidence warrants additional action, we will make efforts to ensure justice is served.”
