Harness IP welcomes 2022 summer associates

Harness IP welcomed law school students from across the country to its 2022 Summer Associate Program. This summer’s group will work across the firm’s Reston, VA; Troy, MI; and St. Louis, MO, offices. Collaborating with Harness IP attorneys, the law students will gain practical knowledge and real-world experience in all aspects of intellectual property law.

In the firm’s Troy office will be:

• Derek Garsee, a rising 3L from Wayne State University

• Alexander Ivanovic, a rising 2L from the University of Notre Dame Law School

• Colette Verch, a rising 3L from Wayne State University Law School

Harness IP’s Summer Associate Program begins with its own IP Law Boot Camp, which provides a foundational framework for our approach to intellectual property law, client service, and teamwork. The summer associates then work directly with one or more patent and trademark attorneys, learning to manage a range of responsibilities that will serve them in their future legal practices.

Students gain real-world experience by tackling various legal assignments, such as drafting patent and trademark applications, preparing litigation documents, conducting prior art searches, and researching filings and proceedings. The program is structured to provide a broad range of professional experiences so that students gain a full appreciation of IP practice and ultimately make informed career decisions.

The Harness IP Summer Associate Program is open to all law students. The firm welcomes highly qualified individuals who have demonstrated a superior level of achievement in previous educational and/or work experience, as well as those who have outstanding communication skills.
