State Bar celebrates attorneys with 50 years of membership

The State Bar of Michigan will host its annual 50-Year Golden Celebration luncheon on Thursday, May 25, at Saint John’s Resort in Plymouth to honor attorneys with 50 years of membership with the State Bar of Michigan.

A list of the honorees is available at www.michbar.org/50year. Registration for the event will open this month.  

Friends, family, and colleagues are invited to send congratulatory messages to the Class of 1973 by placing an advertisement in the Golden Celebration’s keepsake program, which will
be distributed at the luncheon and also can be mailed to honorees.

‘Trauma-Informed Legal System’ focus of symposium

Wayne State University Law School’s Journal of Law in Society will present its annual symposium on the topic of “Moving Towards a Trauma-Informed Legal System: A Holistic

Approach to Addiction-Related Crimes” on Wednesday, March 8.

The event will take placle from 12:15 to 1:30 p.m. in the Spencer M. Partrich Auditorium at Wayne Law in Detroit.

Speakers will explore the intersection of trauma, addiction, marginalized communities, and the criminal justice system in order to better serve trauma victims and society as a whole.

ACC-MI program examines ‘In-House Pro Bono Programs’

The Association of Corporate Counsel-Michigan Chapter (ACC-MI) will present “Making a Difference: Creating or Enhancing Your In-House Pro Bono Programs” sponsored by Miller Canfield on Thursday, March 9.

This program, from 4 to 6:30 p.m., will be offered online and in person at the Detroit offices of Miller Canfield, 150 W. Jefferson, Ste. 2500.

Speakers will include:

• Jennifer Lawson, a program manager at the DTE Energy Foundation, the philanthropic arm of DTE Energy.

• Kimberly Ray, chair of the pro bono committee at Ford Motor Co.

• Wendy Richardson, a commercial litigator who has worked on numerous multimillion-dollar class actions and other complex matters.
