General Durable Power of Attorneys discussed at State Bar webinar

The Taxation Section of the State Bar of Michigan will present “The Michigan General Durable Power of Attorney Webinar” on Friday, November 10, from noon to 1 p.m. via Zoom.

A GDPA is an essential, personal legal document. Issues covered in this webinar include the following:

• In the wake of alleged, recent, large-scale embezzlements perpetrated by counsel, this webinar will consider GDPAs in light of Michigan fiduciary law, including reliance upon GDPAs by banks and other third parties.

• In light of recent pronouncements by the Internal Revenue Service, the webinar will receive the use of GDPAs in Federal tax practice.

• The webinar will consider GDPAs in light of the looming Uniform Power of Appointment Act.

Webinar attendees will be provided a monograph of legal authorities, as well as a template GDPA.

Presenter Stephen J. Dunn practices federal tax controversies, foreign accounts compliance, and estate planning and administration. His law firm, Dunn Counsel PLC, is based in Troy.

To register for the program, email moderator Buzz Leach at bleach@smb-t.com. Shortly after receiving registration, a Zoom invitation to attend the webinar will be sent.
