Michigan Civil Rights Commission to host 60th anniversary reception Dec.13th

The Michigan Civil Rights Commission (MCRC) and Michigan Department of Civil Rights will host the Michigan Civil Rights Commission 60th Anniversary Breakfast Reception on Wednesday, Dec. 13 beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Heritage Hall  in Lansing, MI 48933. 

In addition to celebrating an important historical milestone, the event is also an opportunity to recognize the 2023 MCRC Civil Rights Awardees:


• 2023 John Feikens Award for Organizational Civil Rights Leadership -- Detroit Branch NAACP


• Damon J. Keith Award for Individual Civil Rights Leadership -- Duncan Wyeth, Disability Rights Advocate


• Burton I. Gordin Award for Civil Rights Courage -- Michelle P. Crockett, Chief Diversity Officer, Miller Canfield


• Persons With Disabilities Civil Rights Act Advocacy Award -- Jamie Junior, Disability Network of Wayne County


• Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act Award for Public Service Leadership -- State Senator Sarah Anthony


The Michigan Civil Rights Commission was created by the Michigan Constitution to safeguard constitutional and legal guarantees against discrimination.
