C-S JVs pull away from
Athens in 4th quarter


The Climax-Scotts JV boys basketball team pulled away from Athens with a 14-5 surge in the fourth quarter to register a 41-29 win over the Indians at Athens last Friday.

C-S, now 10-2, led the home team by just three points (27-24) after three quarters, but held Athens to two baskets and a free throw in the fourth quarter.

Maddox Wyman led C-S in scoring with 13 points and Johann Albarran-Aguilar added 12.

Jackson Crummel led Athens in scoring with 11 points.

C-S is scheduled to host Springport February 1 at 5:30 p.m. and remain home February 6 for a non-league game against Quincy  at 5:30 p.m.

Strong defense helps Panthers to 34-23 win over Mendon

The Climax-Scotts JV boys basketball team used strong defense and a good offensive effort in the fourth quarter to overtake Mendon 34-23 January 24 at Mendon.

C-S trailed the Hornets 20-19 entering the fourth quarter but held the home team to just three points while enjoying its best quarter of the game by scoring 15 points to pull out the win.

C-S led by a 9-7 count after one quarter and 15-12 at halftime.

Mason Shannon’s nine points led C-S in scoring, while Ashton Heighton added seven points.

Eight place for C-S-M at Blackhawk invite;
team finishes 2nd


Eight members of the Climax-Scotts-Martin co-op wrestling team placed at the Todd Stern Blackhawk Invite in Leslie last Saturday, helping the co-op team to a second place finish.

Manchester finished first out of 22 schools in the individual tournament, followed by C-S-M.

Logan Gilbert and Haylen Buell were individual champions and Buell was named outstanding wrestler of the tournament.

Malcolm Smith finished third, Kristian Heighton, Sam Bleeker and Max Bleeker each finished fourth and Cole Reitz and Jackson Bagwell both finished fifth.

Other wrestlers who contributed team points were Jonathan Owen, Josh Walman and Mathew Holmes.

The Rams return to action February 3 at the SAC championship at Constantine at 10 a.m.
